Q'ero people are an old lineage of mountain shamans, closely connected to the Earth and the energy of the sacred mountains. They understand forces of nature and work with them to help people and the Earth. We will be staying in a village in high mountains close to where Q'ero people live, and we will be meeting with their shamans and receiving ceremonies and initiations, as well as visiting their sacred sites.

We will be doing two group ceremonies during this trip. First one is a cleansing ritual at a waterfall, with Q'ero shamans, and the second one is San Pedro ceremony facilitated by Inin and Elias.

On the last full day of our visit, we will be offered personal rituals and initiations with Q'eros, that you can choose to do individually.

Below is the description of several different types of rituals they offer, and there might be others that will be introduced to us once we are in Peru.

COCA LEAF READING - ANALYSIS OF EXISTING PROBLEMS AND CAUSES

Coca is a sacred plant that grows in the highlands of the Andes. It has the ability to connect Pachamama with people. After someone has asked the shaman a question, he makes contact with the plant, whose leaves he keeps in a bag. He discusses them, throws them repeatedly onto his ritual cloth and studies their position and statements. Depending on how the leaves fall, the shaman can get energetic and physical answers to the questions asked. From the answer he can see which blockages are holding the person back. These blockages can be health-related, affect work or relationships, or prevent personal and spiritual development. The next steps arise from this. The shaman can see which rituals are necessary in order to be able to clear things on various levels so that new things can emerge and develop.

KUTY RITUAL - PURIFICATION OF FOREIGN ENERGY

Even during the Coca reading one can often see that a strong foreign energy ( Atraso ) is attached to us. This foreign energy arises as soon as someone else consciously or unconsciously turns against us with envy, hatred and hostile thoughts, feelings or actions. Atraso can accumulate over years and burden and slow down our development, our health, our relationships and our working life. Just as a shower cleanses our body, the KUTY RITUAL cleanses our energy field.

MACHO RITUAL

LIBERATION FROM “OLD ENERGY”

The Q'eros see Mother Earth and her creatures and natural phenomena as alive. They speak to the mountains, the earth, the clouds and can perceive different energies in nature. "Old energy" ( macho ) from the natural kingdom or the four elements can attach itself to us without us noticing and drain our energy. This is because we do not perceive these beings and perhaps do not understand their message or have unconsciously disturbed or angered them. With the MACHO RITUAL, the Q'eros offer this energy an exchange, whereby it becomes saturated and leaves the affected person.

PACHAMAMA RITUAL

THANKS AND WISHES FOR MOTHER EARTH

In a PACHAMAMA RITUAL for Mother Earth, individual wishes and prayers are incorporated into the ritual. The Q'eros carefully pack a despacho (package) for Mother Earth, in a "language" that Pachamama understands. It is a gift to say "thank you", accompanied by a personal request, for example for health, harmony, love or peace. This gift is given to the fire so that Mother Earth can transform the wishes and will work to make them come true when the time is right.

SUSTO RITUAL

HEALING THE SHOCK AND TRAUMA

Often the Shaman can tell when someone has suffered a shock ( Susto ) when reading the coca . When a person has a shock (due to any kind of accident), they lose energy. A large loss of energy due to one or more shocks can lead to illness either immediately or later in life - namely when the energy deficiency in the system can no longer be compensated. With a suitable ritual, the energy can be called back.
